World Skate Games 2026 Street Results: Ginwoo Onodera Wins Thriller as Yumeka Oda Reclaims World Title

Japan celebrated a Street Skateboarding double at the World Skate Games Asunción 2026, with Ginwoo Onodera and Yumeka Oda claiming the men's and women's world titles in Paraguay.

The men's final delivered an unforgettable finish as Ginwoo Onodera landed a massive last-attempt trick to overtake South Korea's Juni Kang.

In the women's competition, Yumeka Oda defeated Australian star Chloe Covell to become Street World Champion for the second time.

Both victories came down to decisive performances in the Best Trick section.

🥈 Juni Kang (South Korea) – 179.32

🥉 Taiga Nagai (Japan) – 166.18

Women's Street

🥇 Yumeka Oda (Japan) – 170.94

🥈 Chloe Covell (Australia) – 167.97

🥉 Coco Yoshizawa (Japan) – 159.26

Ginwoo Onodera Wins with an Incredible Final Trick

Ginwoo Onodera saved his best for the very last moment.

The 16-year-old Japanese skateboarder had already impressed with a 90.14 run, but South Korea's Juni Kang was leading after landing a huge trick of his own.

With one attempt remaining, Onodera needed a score above 89 to take gold.

He delivered a spectacular Bigflip Frontside Bluntslide Bigspin Out, earning 92.12 and sending him to the top of the leaderboard.

His final total of 182.26 secured victory by just 2.94 points over Kang.

For Onodera, it was his first World Skateboarding Tour victory — and it came with a world championship title.

Taiga Nagai completed the podium, giving Japan two of the three men's medals.

Yumeka Oda Defeats Chloe Covell for Second World Title

The women's final produced another dramatic comeback.

Chloe Covell looked on course for victory after delivering the strongest run of the competition, scoring 89.74.

But Yumeka Oda had other plans.

The Japanese skateboarder landed a Kickflip Frontside Feeble in the Best Trick section, earning 88.73 and moving ahead of the Australian.

Covell responded but couldn't recover the lead, finishing second with 167.97.

Oda's winning total of 170.94 secured her second Street World Championship title after her previous triumph in 2023.

Olympic champion Coco Yoshizawa finished third with 159.26, completing another strong result for Japan.

Big Names Miss Out in Paraguay

The Street finals also produced several surprises.

Defending men's world champion Toa Sasaki struggled to find his rhythm, while fellow Japanese contender Kairi Netsuke also finished outside the podium positions.

Brazil's Giovanni Vianna took fourth in the men's competition, ahead of Peru's Angelo Caro in fifth.

In the women's final, Brazilian favorite Rayssa Leal finished seventh after struggling to complete her Best Trick attempts.

Her compatriot Maria Lucia Do Campos was Brazil's highest-placed woman in fifth.

Japan Dominates the Street World Championships

With gold medals in both Street competitions and four of the six available podium positions, Japan emerged as the dominant nation in Asunción.

Onodera's spectacular last-trick victory and Oda's comeback against Covell provided two very different but equally memorable championship moments.

The results also carry significance beyond Paraguay, with the World Skateboarding Tour contributing important ranking points on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Two world champions. Two dramatic finals. One dominant nation. Japan leaves Asunción on top of Street Skateboarding.
